The Personal is Bloggable is about feminism, women of color, books, and anything else that is of interest to me. The name comes from the term the personal is political. After all the women’s studies classes that I took at Smith, this was the term that stuck with me. The personal is political means that what is seemingly personal is actually political as well. The reluctance of my family to embrace the word “feminism” is a personal issue but it is also political because I believe Latinas are socialized to steer clear of it.

It took me awhile to think of the name for this blog but thanks to my brilliant friend Monika, who has an amazing blog of her own (booksijustread.com), I finally have a great name!
